Mindful Musings

on living life with stage four cancer and winning.

by Sean O’ Sullivan

“This book is what I regard as a light mindful reflection of my recent three year battle with stage four melanoma cancer and the subsequent successful outcome. You might wonder why I decided to recount the struggle in print? I am firmly of the belief that anybody currently going through a serious health issue may get some sustenance and inspiration from my experience, as in the end the strength of mind played a major ole in getting to the finish line. There were many times when I was so simply fatigued that I felt like crying “enough” but I found sufficient resources to keep going on”

Sean O’Sullivan was diagnosed with a rare melanoma cancer in his head in May 2015 at 76 years of age and given the devastating news that he had stage four cancer. After almost three years of scans, initial treatment and inclusion in a clinical trial for a new immunotherapy drug, Sean was told in February 2018 that he was cancer free.

To help inspire others going through cancer, Sean has written and published with the help of the Marie Keating Foundation and MSD, a book of mindful musings which chronicles his battle with cancer; Mindful Musing on Living Life with Stage Four Cancer and Winning. He says “the message contained in the book is that no matter what illness you are suffering from there is always hope, another way to the road of recovery.”

Sean is a loving husband to his “soul mate” Pat, father to three sons and beloved grandfather to four grandchildren. He is living in Dublin for over 50 years but is originally from Waterford.
