Fake Some Noise

The Marie Keating Foundation is asking the public to emulate their favourite rock star and Fake Some Noise as part of a new lip-sync fundraising campaign supported by Spin 1038. During the month of October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the public is being asked to video themselves lip syncing to their favourite song, post it to social media, nominate three people  and text MARIE to 50300 to donate €2 to the Marie Keating Foundation. All proceeds raised by the campaign will go towards the Marie Keating Foundation’s cancer services.

100% of text cost goes to MKF across most network providers. Some providers apply VAT which means a minimum of €1.63 will go to MKF. SP: LIKECHARITY Helpline: (01) 4433890

The campaign is kindly supported by Spin 1038. Check out the Spin 1038 Fully Charged presenters who have already helped us to #FakeSomeNoise!

Speaking at the launch of the Fake Some Noise campaign, Nathan O’Reilly, Spin 1038 presenter, said, “Even if you can’t sing, you can definitely lip sync so turn up the radio, live out your rock star dream and support people who are struggling with cancer. Don’t forget to text to donate to the Marie Keating Foundation and then tag your friends and family in your social media posts so they can take their moment in the spotlight.”

Also speaking at the Fake Some Noise launch was Graham O’Toole Spin 1038 presenter. He said, “Nearly 40,000 people in Ireland are diagnosed with cancer every year so almost all of us know someone who has been affected. Fake Some Noise will help raise funds for the Marie Keating Foundation’s programmes and services such as its Comfort Fund for people struggling financially due to cancer, as well as its Survive & Thrive programme for men and women who are adjusting to life after cancer treatment. If we all share our lip sync magic with the world and donate €2 to this great cause, we can make a big impact.”

Jamie Crawford, CEO, Spin 1038 said, “Over 140,000 people tune into Spin 1038 every day and I’d be surprised if most of them did not sing along to their favourite hits so this is the perfect way for them to be lip sync legends while supporting the fight against cancer. All the Spin team from DJs, producers, sound engineers and even myself will be sharing our Fake Some Noise videos from 3 October. We hope everyone will join us by getting out their smart phone and, whether they lip sync to Hozier, Miley Cyrus or even Meatloaf, Fake Some Noise in aid of the Marie Keating Foundation.”

One in three people in Ireland will develop cancer during their lifetime. The five most common cancers in Ireland are skin cancer, prostate cancer, breast cancer, bowel cancer and lung cancer. The Marie Keating Foundation is committed to helping people in Ireland prevent cancer, detect it at its earliest stages and journey through cancer diagnosis, treatment and survivorship. The Marie Keating Foundation offers all its cancer programmes and services free of charge.

You can Fake Some Noise by recording a video of yourself lip syncing to your favourite song, posting it to social media using #FakeSomeNoise and texting MARIE to 50300 to donate €2 to the Marie Keating Foundation.
