The Think Pink Cycle is taking place on Sunday the 23rd of September in Castleconnell, Co Limerick! The all-female leisure cycling sportive is being organised by the by committee members of the Ladies @The Hub Cycling Group, which are affiliated to The Hub Cycle Club Limerick, with a view of encouraging women to get involved in cycling as a social activity, and as a means of promoting positive mental and physical well-being.
The Think Pink Cycle is promoting much-needed awareness around the early detection of cancer among women.

The Think Pink Charity Cycle includes two distances- 30km Cycle, 75km Cycle.
Starts at Ahane GAA Club Castleconnell onto R445 (Old Dublin Rd) and on to Birdhill roundabout, turning and heading back to Birdhill for a refreshment stop. Continue onto the R466 to Montpellier and turn onto the R525 to Castleconnell. Turn right at the junction to Castleconnell and follow route to Ahane GAA Club on the station road. 75 KM Route
Starts at Ahane GAA Club Castleconnell onto R445 (Old Dublin Rd) and on to Birdhill, Nenagh, follow directional signs and Marshals to Newton R494 for a refreshment stop. After the break the route heads on 4kms before cyclists have to take on the steep climb at Portroe. This is then followed by steady downhill to Killaloe/Ballina with breath taking scenery and back onto the R445 via the R496 Ballina. Once on the R445, cyclists will travel to Birdhill and continue onto the R466 to Montpellier and turn onto the R525 to Castleconnell. Turn right at the junction to Castleconnell and follow route to Ahane GAA Club on the station road. On the morning of the event, maps of the event will be available for all participants at registration point, and the reverse of the map will contain safety information as well as details of medical and bike maintenance support.
Sunday September 23rd
- 7.30am Registration/ Sign In: Ahane GAA Club Community Centre.
- 9.00am Registration finishes.
- 9.20am Opening of the Think Pink Cycle followed by prize giving draws.
- 9.45am Participants will be briefed on safety and medical arrangements and will then be requested to assemble at the relevant start line prior to 10.00am. The 75km spin commences at 10am and the 30km route commences at 10.15am.
- 3.30pm Estimated finish time for event.
- Refreshments will be served on each route at a designated stop for each route.
- There will be tea/coffee & snacks for all finishers at Ahane GAA grounds
WHAT SHOULD I BRING TO THE EVENT?
HELMET – All participants must wear a safety approved cycle helmet at all times when cycling. Anyone without a helmet will not be able to participate and is considered not to be a part of the cycle.
WATERBOTTLE & ENERGY SNACKS – Refreshments will be provided en-route and at the finish area but participants are advised to carry their own extra food and drinks.
MOBILE PHONE WITH CREDIT – Participants may not use a mobile phone while cycling. You must stop at the side of the road if you need to make or receive a call.
EMERGENCY MONEY & ID.
WIND / RAINPROOF TOP – Cyclists must be aware that weather conditions in this area can change and you should bring appropriate clothing to keep warm in any adverse weather.
PUMP & SPARE TUBES – Participants are advised to carry a pump and spare tubes and/or a puncture repair kit.
All bicycles should be in a well-maintained, road-worthy condition. No Tri Bars allowed on bikes.
All Ladies must be over 16 to take part in this event.
