Ireland AM Fighting Cancer with MKF

TV3’s flagship programme shows its support for the Marie Keating Foundation by holding a week long ‘fundraising’ appeal

TV3’s flagship morning show Ireland AM is hosting a special fundraising appeal for the Marie Keating Foundation to raise awareness about the services provided by the Foundation and to raise important funds for their Comfort Fund.

The target amount to raise within the week is €20,000, which will go directly towards the Marie Keating Foundation’s Comfort Fund service.

“The target for the week of €20,000 is an ambitious one but one we are determined to hit it in order for us to be able to meet the increased demand on our Comfort Fund and help as many families as possible at a very difficult time in their and their family’s lives. €20,000 would help us support at least an additional 25 families directly affected by cancer and we would be so delighted to be able to do this” Linda Keating, Director of Fundraising, the Marie Keating Foundation.

The week long special will see some of the cancer survivors who have used our services or been supported by the Foundation interviewed on the couch, alongside members of the Marie Keating Foundation team including; Liz Yeates, CEO, Helen Forristal, Director of Nursing Services, Linda Keating, Director of Fundraising and Dr Janice Walshe, Consultant Medical Oncologist, appearing on the couch.  Audiences will be continuously encouraged to send a text to donate throughout the week. You simply text MARIE to 50300 to donate €4. The Marie Keating Foundation will receive a minimum of €3.60. T&Cs apply. Service provider: LIKECHARITY. Helpine: (076)6805278.

“The Marie Keating Foundation Comfort Fund helps people and families struggling financially because of a cancer diagnosis. Our Comfort Fund has seen a massive 338% increase in requests and last year alone and MKF gave out grants to more than 530 families around the country,” Helen Forristal , Director of Nursing Services, the Marie Keating Foundation.

This special fundraising appeal falls in a year of particular importance for the Foundation as they mark their 20th anniversary.  The Marie Keating Foundation was founded 20 years ago, following the death of Marie Keating from breast cancer. In the wake of her death, the Keating family promised that they would do everything they could to ensure that no other Irish family would go through what they had been through. They committed to provide families with the necessary information to detect cancer at its earliest stages and give support to patients through every stage of their cancer journey.

“As more and more people will be diagnosed with cancer, the need and demand for our services is also increasing all the time. We are so grateful to TV3 for running this special fundraising appeal, which will allow us to help more families who are struggling financially because of cancer.” Liz Yeates, CEO of the Marie Keating Foundation.

The TV3 fundraising appeal on Ireland AM will run from Monday 23rd to Friday 27th July. Audiences will be invited to text MARIE to 50300 to donate €4 (Marie Keating Foundation will receive a minimum of €3.60.
