New 5km event to be held in Dublin’s Phoenix Park in aid of cancer foundation

3 March 2015: Men, women and children are invited to walk, run or just have fun at the Skechers 5k in aid of the Marie Keating Foundation in the Phoenix Park, Dublin 15, on Sunday, 29 March 2015. Registration for the event costs €15 per person, or €30 for a family, with all proceeds going the Marie Keating Foundation’s breast cancer awareness programmes. The registration fee includes chip timing, making the event ideal for more serious runners, joggers who are looking to improve their time or those who simply want to walk for fun and support the fight against cancer. This 5km event will follow the Operation Transformation route and is an ideal way to get ready for the VHI Women’s Mini Marathon which is taking place on 1 June 2015. Everyone who participates will receive a goodie bag, as well as a €15 voucher for Skechers. To register, click below.

Register for the Skechers 5k Speaking at the launch of the event, Linda Keating, Director of Fundraising, Marie Keating Foundation, said, “Staying fit and getting moderate exercise is a key part of cancer prevention so the Foundation is delighted to see so many people out walking and running now that the evenings are beginning to get a bit longer again. Taking part in a charity walk or run like the Skechers 5km is a great goal to set yourself and also a perfect way of supporting our cancer awareness programmes. This will help the Marie Keating Foundation continue to provide all our services free of charge, keeping people healthy and supporting those who are already on their cancer journey. We hope to see as many people as possible in the Phoenix Park on Sunday, 29 March. We would also like to say a huge thank you to Skechers for their amazing support.”
Also speaking at the launch was Paul Gallagher, Managing Director, Skechers Ireland, who said, “So many of our Skechers team and customers are affected by cancer so we are delighted to be supporting the Marie Keating Foundation through the Skechers 5k. Everyone who participates, whether they are running for a personal best or going for a stroll with the family, will be contributing to this great charity, keeping fit and enjoying a morning out. Whatever your level of fitness, register for the Skechers 5k, and join us in the Phoenix Park for a great morning.”
