TV3’s Anna Daly and Martin King came together today to launch the Pigsback 5K/10K Run in aid of The Marie Keating Foundation. Speaking at the launch, Anna Daly said, “With the summer finally upon us, it’s a great time of year to get out and about and set yourself a target to get fit. 5k is just over three miles which is an achievable distance for all ages and abilities. At the Pigsback 5K/10K Run in aid of The Marie Keating Foundation, you can run, jog or walk your way around the course and help raise funds for an amazing charity at the same time.”

Martin King also spoke at the launch, saying, “We are definitely turning the tide against cancer but there is still a lot of progress to be made. Every year, around 3,150 women are diagnosed with breast cancer in Ireland so it touches so many of our mothers, wives, sisters and friends. Taking part in the Pigsback 5K/10K Run in aid of The Marie Keating Foundation is a great way to show your support for the women in your life and this great charity. So get out there and train and get your friends and family to sign up with you for the big day on Sunday, 11 October 2015.”

Siobhan Byrne from Body Byrne Fitness, is the official trainer for the event. Speaking ahead of the launch, she said, “Being fit and getting moderate exercise is a vital part of reducing your risk of cancer so getting out and training for the Pigsback 5K/10K Run in aid of The Marie Keating Foundation is a great target for anyone, whether you plan to walk the route at your own pace or challenge yourself by going for a personal best on the 10k course. Body Byrne is supporting the event through weekly, easy-to-follow training plans which will guide you through the stretches, pacing and cool-down as well as diet and nutrition. It’s all available for free on the Marie Keating Foundation website.”

John McDonald, Managing Director, Pigsback.com, said “Pigsback have long been a proud supporter of the Marie Keating Foundation and we are delighted to be holding this event for such a great cause. The Marie Keating Foundation is a small charity with a huge energy and purpose and we hope you will see this run as the perfect opportunity to show your support for them.”
