The Powering Pink Duck Race Terms & Conditions

1. The Powering Pink Rubber Duck Race (the ‘Race’ or “the event) will take place on the River Liffey, Dublin, Ireland. The event will take place between the Matt Talbot Bridge at the IFSC /Customs House and the Samuel Becket Bridge though the Organiser may have to change the start and finish line on the day of the race, taking into account speed of river, tidal conditions, weather conditions, etc.

2..The race will close after the first Duck has crossed the finish line.

3. Powering Pink Rubber Ducks (the ‘ducks’) will remain the property of Marie Keating Foundation.

4. Ducks will all be of the same size and weight.

5. Ducks can be sponsored for €4 for one duck, €20 for six ducks or €100 for 30 ducks. All proceeds raised by the Powering Pink Duck Race will go to the Marie Keating Foundation.

6. Ducks can be sponsored on line via the Marie Keating Foundation website www.mariekeating.ie .

Ducks can also be sponsored by texting DUCK to 50300.   Text costs €4. The Marie Keating Foundation will receive a minimum of €3.25. Service Provider: LIKECHARITY. Helpline: 076 6805278.

7. When a duck is sponsored, the sponsor will receive a unique code that will correspond to a duck coded with that same number.  Only official Powering Pink ducks are eligible to participate in the duck race.

8. Ducks will not be available for sponsorship to those under the age of 16 in accordance with the Gaming and Lotteries Act 1956.

9. The prize will be displayed on the  Powering Pink Duck Race microsite on www.mariekeating.ie (subject to change without prior notice) and will be allocated by the Marie Keating Foundation. The prize is 2 nights Bed & breakfast for two persons (subject to availability) at the 5 star Conrad Hotel, Dublin; 2 cocktails per person at Lemuels Bar and dinner on one evening in the Coburg Restaurant during your stay.

10. Prize is non-transferable and can be changed by the Marie Keating Foundation without prior notice but will be of at least the same value or more.

11. All monies raised by this event (including anything happening in conjunction with this event will go to the Marie Keating Foundation to support its cancer programmes and services.

12. All ducks will be released into the River Liffey at the start line on command of the event organisers.

13. The first duck that crosses the finish line will be deemed the winner.

14. The race will be adjudicated by Deloitte.

15. This event will be covered by the Marie Keating Foundation’s public liability insurance which is provided by O’Driscoll/O’Neill.

16. All personal data collected will only be used for the purpose of running this race & notifying the winner unless otherwise specified.

17. Attendance by the person(s) who sponsored the duck(s) is not compulsory as the winner will be contacted using the information they supplied when sponsoring their duck.

18. There is no limit to the number of ducks an individual can purchase.

19. The Marie Keating Foundation will endeavour to ensure a fair race, but there are a number of circumstances in which an element of luck will favour a winning duck or adversely affect other ducks. In particular:

Event organisers will attempt to place all the ducks in the water at or about the same time and place. However if a duck fails to enter the water appropriately it may have a reduced chance.
Ducks may be carried by the current into the river bank or another obstruction.
Event organisers may disqualify any duck which is interfered with by anyone or for any other reason at their discretion other than those appointed by the Committee (e.g. Poolbeg Yacht Club volunteers).
There may be other unforeseen circumstances.
20. In the event of bad weather or some other unforeseen circumstance that means the event has to be cancelled, the Marie Keating Foundation will try to rearrange the race. Updates will be available on the Marie Keating Foundation website and social media. If a rescheduled duck race is not possible within four weeks of the initial scheduled date, the Marie Keating Foundation will offer full refunds to everyone who sponsored a duck for this race.

If, for any reason, the Race is not capable of running as planned the Marie Keating Foundation reserves the right to modify these Terms and Conditions and/or to cancel, terminate, modify, or suspend all or any part of the Pfizer Powering Pink Duck Race, and to select a duck as the winner from among all eligible entries received up to the time of such cancellation, termination, modification, or suspension, as applicable.

21. The race is co-sponsored by Pfizer Healthcare Ireland but organised and administrated by the Marie Keating Foundation. All Pfizer Ireland employees are eligible to adopt/sponsor ducks.

22. The event organiser’s decision of the winners is final. The owner of the winning duck will be notified through the email address that he/she provided when adopting their duck. They will be notified within three hours of the end of the duck race.

23. By sponsoring a duck, you are accepting that your name will be made public in the case that you are the sponsor of the winning duck(s). The name(s) of the winners will be published on the Marie Keating Foundation’s website, on its social media and issued to media in a press release.

24. Accepting the terms and conditions set out above are a condition of entry to the Powering Pink Duck Race.
