Blue Insurance goes Pink for a day in aid of the Marie Keating Foundation

Breast Cancer Awareness Month has just passed, but efforts to promote the cancer prevention awareness is essential all year long. Knowing about the importance of avoiding risks, Blue Insurance, an award-winning home and car insurance provider, held a Pink Day in the office at the beginning of the year as part of the Think Pink Campaign promoted by the Marie Keating Foundation. Blue hopes to inspire other businesses to do the same and hold a Pink Day in their offices in aid of the organisation at any time of the year.

To help raise funds for the institution, Blue Insurance organised a coffee morning for all its staff. Members of the team were encouraged to wear and bring pink coloured cakes during the Friday morning festivities and all the budding bakers in the office produced a huge spread of cakes, muffins, buns and other sweets in every shade of pink imaginable. The entire experience was a thoroughly enjoyable one and, in addition to the great cause, it was also a good opportunity to have some fun at work.

Blue Insurance now proudly hold our Certificate of Thanks from the Marie Keating Foundation as well as a breast cancer awareness banner which are kept permanently on the company notice board. Alan O’Rouke, Marketing Executive with Blue Insurance, said: “It was great to see the company get together to donate & raise awareness for such a worthy cause.”

The money raised by the team is used by the Marie Keating Foundation to continue the great work on awareness campaigns and help critically-ill patients. Breast cancer is the second most common in women in Ireland, and around 3,200 are diagnosed with the disease in Ireland each year. Thankfully, one in four cases of breast cancer is preventable and the work of organisations such as the Marie Keating Foundation as well as advances in treatment have been helping to save many of these lives.
