Partnership with NCAD

The Marie Keating Foundation is delighted to have a partnership with the National College of Art and Design, which started in October 2014. The students and staff at NCAD have come together to help the Foundation raise awareness of common cancers and are also helping to raise funds through various fun, innovative and inspiring campaigns:

Visual storytelling project– First year art, design, education, and visual culture students took part in a visual story telling project where they were challenged to communicate key messages about cancer prevention  in a way that is in line with the Marie Keating Foundation’s mission of ‘making cancer less frightening by enlightening.’ A selection of visual stories is posted below. We love what the students have produced!

Facial Fun Factory– To help the Marie Keating Foundation raise awareness and funds for Men’s Health Month (November), NCAD staff and students cultivated moustaches of many different shapes and sizes. The Wooly Weavers, a knitting group from the administration team, also came together to knit a moustache for the exterior of the college- see below for a picture of their creation. Thank you to everyone who took part- we really appreciate your efforts!

Give Your Bra For Breast Cancer- Throughout October, the Marie Keating Foundation was asking women to give their bra for breast cancer. NCAD kindly supported the campaign by acting as a bra drop off point, and helped contribute to the nearly 30,000 bras that were collected during Breast Cancer Awareness Month!

Student Health Information Week– In December 2014, the NCAD Student Union held a health information week and invited the Marie Keating Foundation to bring one of our Mobile Information Units to the campus for the day. Staffed by one of our expert nurses, the unit was visited throughout the day but students who took advantage of the free cancer information and lifestyle advice, as well as presentations on smoking cessation and diet tips.
